---ANNOUNCING THE 2009-2010 SEASON OF EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS---
FEBRUARY 18 – MARCH 16. Two exhibitions: A "One Person Show" featuring the recent art photography and digital art by Artist in Residence Arthur Gerstein; plus, "The Artist Within" – the second of four in the Artescape Florida West 2010 Series of Juried Fine Art Exhibitions and Competitions. For this exhibition both Florida West Arts members and nonmembers are challenged to "push the envelope, and go down deep inside and create their best artwork ever.
MARCH 6. MEET THE ARTIST SERIES. Artist in Residence Arthur Gerstein conducts an informal demonstration: "Photography as Fine Art in the Digital Age". Saturday March 6 12:30 – 3:00 pm. Open to the public admission free.
MARCH 25 – March 27. Florida West Arts participates in the three day Grand Opening and Spring Sale Celebration at Bonita Commons with two exhibitions: A "Dual Exhibition" featuring Archival Photography by Artists in Residence Cynthia Walpole and Charles Fritsch plus, "Spring Has Sprung" – the third of four in the Artescape Florida West 2010 Series of Juried Fine Art Exhibitions and Competitions. The deadline for artists to enter is March 10, 2010. The opening reception on Thursday March 25 takes place at Florida West Arts from 5:00 – 7:30 pm. As part of the celebration, refreshments will also be served at the other Bonita Commons participating stores. All open to the public, admission free. Festive Balloons will be flying from the center's lamp posts. In addition to the Spring Sale, there will be a silent auction at Florida West Arts.
The Celebration continues through Saturday March 27 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Archival Photographers Cynthia Walpole and Charles Fritsch will conduct an informal demonstration in the gallery. Attendees will experience their artistic techniques while viewing the artists' photographic imagery of the world around us. Both are known for the subtle detail and painterly quality of their works that beckons the viewer to come back for more. At the same time, the Bonita Commons Sidewalk Artists will be painting at easels. And from 12:30 – 3:30 pm Florida West Arts performing artists FACE2FACE will entertain on the patio. The jazzy flute and funky keyboards of FACE2FACE leader Paul Rozmus will be joined by the wonderful voice of David Christian as the two play and sing contemporary jazz, Motown and more.
March 26 – April 20. The Walpole/ Fritsch exhibition and the "Spring Has Sprung" exhibition
run from Thursday March 26 – April 20.
APRIL 29 – MAY 20. The "Artescape Florida West 2010 Awards Exhibition" – the fourth and final exhibition and competition of two and three dimensional artworks in the 2010 series. The deadline for artists to enter the final exhibition is April 12, 2010. The overall series "Best in Show Award", "Awards of Distinction" and "Awards of Artistic Achievement" will be announced at the opening reception. The Awards Reception: Thursday April 29 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Open to the public admission free.
